Topics:Topamax and Gallstones

I have been on Topamax for migraines for several yrs. I think I'm starting to have some signs of gallstones.  Should I get checked?  If so, what kind of test can identify gallstones?  Has it been determined yet that their is a correlation between Topamax causing gallstones?

Thank you

If you are having any signs/symptoms of gallstones, yes, you should be checked by your doctor.  He will be able to feel if your gallbladder is inflammed and so will you!!!

I am not aware of Topamax causing gallstones.  I have been on Topamax for the past two years, and the dosage has just been increased this month.

Any time that you are concerned about y0ur health, you should always check with your physician.

My first real experience with chronic head pain...

Hi Jennifer,

Topamax works wonders for some people with Migraine disease, not so well for others.

There is a potential increased risk of kidney stones for some while taking topamax.

We have a complete profile of it you can find HERE.

Good luck

Nancy
