Hi Visual Migraine Sufferer,

I'm sorry it was so expensive for you. Now that Topamax (topiramate) is generic, you could shop around at different pharmacies and get their prices. Do you need help with the cost of your prescriptions? There is a program called Partnership for Prescription Assistance you may want to look into.

There are other medications in the same class of drugs as Topamax that may be less costly, you'd need to check. These are antiseizure medications are often used for Migraine prevention and include: Depakote, Klonopin, Neurontin, Lamictal, Lyrica and Zonegran just to name a few.

Don't give up, there are over 100 different medications used for Migraine prevention. Take a look at this article: Migraine Preventive Medications - Too Many Options To Give Up!

I hope this helps,

Nancy
