Winter Holiday GuideEnjoying the Holidays Despite Migraines and Headaches --> Info for you...

Anyone who has migraines starting in their fifties and continuing into their sixties, like me?

Diane

My migraines started when I became menopausal about age 52.  I have had them ever since, about 3-4 a month.  I am now 61 using a daily preventive and Zomig as needed.  I get 3-4 headaches a month now.  Is there anyone out there who has had a similar experience, that is, migraines starting when most women's are ending?

Hi Diane!

Migraine is a genetic neurological disease. Unfortunatly, there is no timeline to when they will start or stop. For some women, they start at around puberty and get better after children or menopause. For some, they start later in life.

Of course there are women out there that didn't start having migraines until menopause, you are not the only one!

This animation shows one of the key causes of pain during a migraine--changes to the blood flow within the brain.
