I have been on every medication possible.  Blood pressure meds.  Imitrex.  About 10 neurologists.  Headache specialists.  None of them know what to do for me.  Occupital Nerve Block.  Now,  I am on Baclofen, they think they are tension migraine headaches.  I have a lot of tension in my body.  Who wouldn't being in pain for 14 years with headaches almost three times a week or every day.  It's no way to live.  I am scared their are no beta blockers left.  I want to be pain free.  I am going to try another neurologist that a friend said he helped her.  I feel nausea, pain and throbbing in my forehead and my neck.

I am sick and tired of this.  I am also doing physical therapy she said I carry a lot of tension.  My primary care physician suggested relaxation and biofeedback.  I am trying. I also have PTSD so I take medication for that as well.

There must be someone that has not had a migraine for a while or could suggest some different medications. Even the pain meds don't work.

Thank you,

Margie

Hi Margie,

First let me say I'm sorry to hear you are suffering so much. I know how easy it is to feel as if you've tried everything out there, but there are so many medications that can be used for Migraine and headache prevention that it's literally impossible. There are over 100 different medications available, then putting the combinations together, the options are almost limitless. You can find a list of potential Migraine and headache preventives in Migraine preventive medications - too many options to give up!

It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. See here's the thing  - neurologists may be fine doctors, but treat so many different conditions like MS, stroke and epilepsy, it is difficult for them to be experts in any one area. What you may need is a Migraine specialist. This is the expert who devotes his entire practice treating patients who have Migraine and headache disorders. Take a look at this article: Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? and then take a look for a Migraine specialist on our Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists list.

Good luck

Nancy
