Q: I get 7-12 migraines a month. I take 20mg. of nortriptyline daily for past 4 months as a preventative. I take relpax at the onset of my migraines. Should I increase the nortri. to 25 mg? I need help.

My doc. and I have talked about taking more nortri. I would like to get to the "why" am I getting these. Over the years I see a link to my hormonal fluctuations and migraines. It was suggested to me to use natural progesterone cream from the 12-26 days of my cycle. Has anyone had success with this treatment? Any help would be appreciated!

I wish there were clear-cut answers to your questions, but because bodies respond so differently, there just aren't.

Increasing the nortriptyline might or might not help. No medication works for everyone. Progesterone cream could help, make things worse, or make no difference at all. Unfortunately, the only way to answer your questions is to try increasing the nortriptyline and adding the progesterone cream.

One point - It's best to try only one option at a time. If you try both at the same time, and your Migraines improve, you won't know which medication is helping.

Please let us know how you're doing?

Welcome again,

Teri
