According to a new study, hip-strengthening exercises may reduce patellofemoral pain in women runners. This common type of knee pain is caused by the thigh bone rubbing against the back of the knee cap. Experts say the pain doesn't usually start when someone first starts to run, but once it does start, it gets increasingly worse. But in a new study, women runners who did hip-strengthening exercises reduced or even eliminated their knee pain.
