According to a new study, the urge to overeat may be caused by the lack of one brain chemical. Researchers used genetically altered mice and found that those who had little of the BDNF chemical in the appetite-controlling portions of their brain ate more and put on significantly more weight than normal mice. Experts say this is important because a lack of the BDNF chemical has been linked with obesity in humans as well.
