A new study confirms previous findings that irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is linked to fibromyalgia, migraine, and depression. According to the report, participants in the study who had IBS were 60 percent more likely to suffer from one or more of the three disorders. The finding is not entirely new; studies in the 1990s revealed that medications for depression also helped symptoms of IBS, leading researchers to seek connections between the typically unrelated diseases.
