Trigeminal neuralgia a type of Migraine? Occurs in teens?

I was told that Trigeminal neuralgia is a type of migraine. My daughter has all the symptoms of trigeminal neuralgia, but the fact that she was only 16 when this started and there are no known cases of the illness in children, she could only be diagnosed with migraines. Is this true? Migraines run in my family, but no face pain; just headaches. Mary.
