Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients who have poor sleep quality have a greater risk of fatigue, depression, severe pain, and functional disability, a new study has found. Researchers say pain severity and fatigue may be be behind the link between sleep quality and functional disability, since many of the study participants reported that pain disturbed their sleep at least three times per week.
