Using Neurontin To Treat Headaches
A federal jury has ordered drugmaker Pfizer to pay at least $142 million in damages for misleading the Kaiser Health Plan Inc. about the uses of its epilepsy drug Neurontin. According to the judgment, Pfizer misled the health provider into believing Neurontin was effective at treating bipolar disorder and migraines, uses for which Kaiser doctors still prescribe the drug. The jury's ruling was based on Pfizer's violation of federal anti-racketeering laws.
