Drugmaker Merck has slowed down its march to get the drug telcagepant approved for migraines. A recent study designed to see if the drug prevented migraines in patients revealed that the medication raised liver enzymes, experts say. The company stopped that study and is reviewing the results of other studies on the effects of using telcagepant daily.
