The pain of a migraine can be exacerbated by light--a fact that's true even if a sufferer is blind--and now researchers say they know why. Scientists say the part of the brain called the thalamus is where light and pain seem to "talk to one another." They point out that this discovery is unlikely to to lead to immediate treatment for photophobia, but over time they believe the discovery will help improve the treatment of migraines.
