New migraine drug shows promise in trial

A new drug called tonabersat has shown positive results for preventing migraine with aura in a new study, its maker has reported. Tonabersat was able to reduce the average number of migraine with aura attacks by 68 percent in the Phase II clinical trial, according to a news release from Minster Pharmaceuticals. Reseachers say the drug also reduced the number of migraine headache days suffered among the 31 study participants.
