Caffeine withdrawal triggers headaches, but it may not zap energy

People who quit caffeine can go through a period of decreased energy, and have frustrating bouts of headaches, but it is possible to come through the other side of withdrawal with energy intact, a new study has found. Researchers studied 16 caffeine drinkers and found that coming off of caffeine or starting it again caused changes in blood flow to the brain. But during the study's maintenance period, there was no difference between the energy or concentration of those who took caffeine or those on a placebo. Experts say the only real benefit of caffeine over time may be that it wards off the period of withdrawal.  Read full story >
