Sen. Ted Kennedy dies from brain cancer

Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy died of brain cancer on Thursday at the age of 77. Kennedy, who was the youngest son of the fabled political family, and brother to President John F. Kennedy, had been diagnosed with malignant glioma--an aggressive form of brain cancer. Kennedy underwent chemotherapy, surgery, and possibly radiation for his tumor, and lived for 14 months following his diagnosis. Kennedy was a staunch advocate for healthcare reform, and friends and family say he died before seeing his dream of an overhauled U.S. medical system fulfilled.
