Researchers say they're still not sure what causes the connection between the two conditions, though it might be related to the swelling of brain blood vessels. The important thing, experts say, is for patients who have migraines to be particularly careful about monitoring their stroke risk factors, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and smoking.
