Migraine Carries Social Stigma for Sufferers

People who have chronic migraines may experience negative stigmatization by their peers, a new study suggests. The study of 123 patients with chronic migraine and 123 with episodic migraine found that the social stigma of chronic pain was about the same for migraine patients as for those who suffer from epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and Alzheimer's disease.
