Scientists Uncover Genetic Link to Migraines

Scientists say they've found the first evidence of genetic risk factors associated with the most common types of migraines. A comparison study of the genome of 3,000 people in Germany, Finland, and the Netherlands found a connection between a gene known as EAAT2 and a protein known to clear glutamate from synapses in the brain. Experts say this gene is known to play a role in other neurological conditions, including epilepsy, schizophrenia, and mood and anxiety disorders.  Read full story >
