Get a Head START on Your Headaches and Migraines

(Page 2)

For the first time, this year’s campaign is drawing specific attention to menstrual Migraines by designating Wednesday, June 4th as National Menstrual Migraine Awareness Day. In support of Menstrual Migraine Awareness Day efforts, the NHF will also be releasing new survey data from a recent poll of its website respondents suffering from menstrual Migraine

Additionally, the NHF is hosting a five-part podcast series specifically addressing women’s headache issues including, Hormones & Headache, Contraception & Migraine, Pregnancy & Headache, Menopause & Headaches and Menstrual Migraine. Podcasts will be available for download during National Headache Awareness Week at www.headaches.org.

This week, during NHAW, let's set aside some time to take another STARTing look at how we're doing with our headaches and Migraines. Here's my modified start list that I'm going to review...

  1. Seek diagnosis. Do I have the correct diagnosis?

  2. Triggers — Looking at my diary, do I know all my triggers?
  3. Advocate — Am I advocating for myself as well as I can?
  4. Resources — Do I have resources I'm not utilizing. Am I fully utilizing all resources?
  5. Treatment — Is my treatment optimized? Are my lifestyle modifications appropriate and adequate?

If you don't have a diary or don't like the one you do have, download our free diary workbook. It has a few formats for you to choose from.

Now it's YOUR turn to take a STARTing look at how you're doing. How ARE you doing?
