Progressive Ms

By Lynstace Friday, June 08, 2012

I get very frustrated that there is no real help for us with secondary MS. Just wondering how others cope.

I have a severe sleep problem since the MS arrived.

Hi Lynstace,

I hear the frustration in your post.  Although I do not have SPMS (still at RRMS), I do occasionally have problems sleeping.  Insomnia is challenging.

Do you experience pain at night?  If so, definitely talk to your doctor about trying to get that under control.  Pain can interfere with sleep.

Do you have good sleep hygiene habits?  I know that if I eat too late, drink too much caffeine, avoid going to bed when I first feel sleepy although it is still early, etc.,  I can create a situation which is more conducive to insomnia.  Talk to you neurologist or general doctor about things you might be able to do to help get into a good sleep rhythm.

Lisa
