Hey pengold,

I did a quick search of celiac disease and found this helpful link.  If you click there, you will find info about the disease, how to manage it, and other helpful stuff.  There is no mention of any correlation between celiac and MS, but of course this is just a site to get you started with...you should ask your doctor more detailed questions as they come up.

hope this helps!

Hi Pengold,

Celiac disease is digestive disorder which is triggered by eating gluten protein.  Gluten is found in wheat, barley, rye, and sometimes oats.  If food containing gluten is eaten, an autoimmune reaction is triggered in the small intestines.

Celiac disease occurs more often in people who already have an autoimmune disease such as Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, or Multiple Sclerosis.

You should talk to your doctor about blood tests and endoscopy to diagnose celiacs disease.  And endoscopy is where they put a scope with a camera down your throat to look at your stomach and small intestines.

Then your doctor can determine what you should do next.  Thanks for asking the question.

My son has this...my husband's sister and mother also have it.

Basically you shouldn't have gluten which is in not only wheat but...other food items which may be contaminated with wheat.  My son has been on a gluten/caisen free diet for some years now.

We buy him foods from the health food store and some foods on-line.  Here is a site specializing in gluten free foods.

What made them suspect that you had this?

I could tell you all that we do for his diet...just ask.
