Cold spots turning numb?

By mike Monday, June 07, 2010

Hello fellow MSers. This is something new for my RRMS. They started as cold spots above knees outside of legs. At first about palm size, now about half way to my hip. They turned from cold spots to numb areas. Is this part  of the new normal?  Thanks........GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS........Mike......

Hi Mike,

Very interesting about the cold spots which have grown and turned numb.  Anytime I've had cold spots, they have been distinctly different than numb spots.  But with abnormal sensations, pratically anything is possible.

As far as being part of the "new normal" only time will tell for sure.  I have had symptoms which randomly improved over a year after they had initially developed.

Sorry that I don't have any more words of advice or nuggets of information.  But if this change in sensation continues to grow and you are experiencing other symptoms, please call your neurologist in case he/she wants to evaluate you for a relapse.

Hi Mike,

Since MS doesn't have a normal it is not necessarily a new normal.  However, this may be your new normal.

Numbness happens to many of us, but I don't know how many times the numbness started with cold spots. When it did, did returning numbness begin with cold spots, too?

Hello Vicki & Lisa;  Unlike others who have numbness, I have no tingling. They started at the same time, both outer legs above the knees, just got cold. Palm size to 3/4 to the hip. It doesn't effect my mobility at this time. Just feels numb. About two weeks ago, got off target at inj. site and hit a nerve in right leg. The nerve let me know real quick he was not happy. The signal stopped at the right of the knee cap. No more pain till I removed the syringe, then instant replay.  Live and learn. I was quoting someone who said that with MS your tomorrow will be your new normal. Thank you for your help and advice. GOD BLESS YOU & YOURS...Mike.....

I really think it is a good idea to consider our changing condition as our new normal.
