Lisa,

Thanks for the link to the Nobel site. It's extremely clear and understadable. Now I understand the process even better.

Have a great weekend,

Maris

Hi Maris,

I went searching for an easy to understand explanation and just discovered the Nobel site over the weekend.  It really is a nifty site with good educational material.  I'm glad that I stumbled across it.

Informative Lisa, thanks! It's fascintating to me how little of the science is explained to a patient by doctors.

Hi,

I agree that most often doctors don't explain the science to the patients.  Fortunately, I attended a women's breakfast for MS patients in 2008 at which an NIH scientist lectured on the current thinking in MS progression (stages) and various treatments being studied.  She very clearly described how monoclonal antibodies work, specifically daclizumab.  She even shared her slides with me later.

I've got another post going up this week regarding monoclonal antibodies being studied.  It doesn't get into the finest details, but does give a good idea of what's down the line.
