My Pets Help Me Battle MS

By Lisa Emrich, Health Guide Sunday, March 17, 2013
Sunday afternoon, St. Patrick’s Day, I’m trapped under a kitty and can’t get up.  Send help.  ;)  No, wait, that’s not necessary.  In actuality, my cat Oscar and I are rather comfortable enjoying some simpatico time on the bed.   Of our three cats, O...

Not a damn thing! MS doesn't have me, nor does the Fibromyalgia and Osteoporosis and COPD and Degenerative Bone Disease in my back and Arthritis! Not one thing! Sure I have had to make changes in my lifestyle as a disabled person, but I still have not given up anything. Yes, I have gained weight and lost my trim figure (my normal weight is 100, my present weight is 170). But I have not given it up as I have been fighting to get it back every single day. I have not given up anything without a fight, nor do I intend to. AND YOU GUYS OUT THERE READING THIS - DON'T YOU GIVE UP EITHER. That would be a disaster and would help you sink to depression. Just smile andsay I temporarily lost my trim figure but it will come back, or whatever it is that you lost due to this horrible disease.

I could never live without my kitties. They are a major part of my life! Since I don't see my own children or grandchildren, I have my kitties, who love me unconditionally and I them. They ar there when I feel good and when I am in a bad spot. OK so they contribute to the numbness in my legs by laying on them. That's okay by me. They have their little personallities and I love them so much. Monkey is the one getting into trouble all the time and he loves playing in therain and getting into mud puddles. Tink is the one who is my good little girl, who will sometimes let her brothers come near her without her swatting them silly. And then there is KoKo, who is 8 years old and has never let me pick him up without a fight. He will get into my lap and let me give him scratches but not without his permission. However, it is KoKo who knows when I have done too much and needs to quit-he definitely will aggravate me until I stop. I think animals (pets) play an immportant part in our wellness.

So if you don't have a little furball to hug, get one! And by hell or high water, don't give up anything to MS without a fight!

Blessings,

Jan

Jan,

Thank you!  Never give up - so true.  And absolutely, pets play an important role in our health.  I can't imagine life without my little guys.

Lisa

I'm with Jan, don't have to give anything up! And, great advice here. Having a pet is a wonderful thing and they move in mysterious ways to make us feel better.

Best,

Christie
