MS Apps 2014 - Multiple Sclerosis/Neurology Publications

  • Several free mobile apps make available publications devoted to multiple sclerosis and neurology. Some of these publications are developed specifically for MS patients and some are aimed at healthcare professionals, but may be of interest to patients who appreciate the scientific coverage they provide. In part 2 of this 4-part series, I share with you my favorite MS-related publications and apps.

    MS-RELATED PUBLICATIONS:

Momentum Magazine by the National MS Society

Available for iPhone/iPad, requires iOS 6.0 or later; Android, requires 2.2 and up

Momentum Magazine is the largest MS-related, quarterly publication in the world. The Momentum Magazine app provides access to full issues of the magazine, is easy to navigate, and is enhanced with interactive features. NMSS states that the interactive magazine app reflects the publication’s more modern look and includes stories by and about people living with MS, expert opinion from MS specialists, and reports on current events, MS advocacy and recent advances in MS research. Web exclusive features of Momentum Magazine are also available through the app. Caution: After you download an edition of the Magazine within the App, you may be faced by a rather loud musical greeting. Be sure to turn down your volume settings. Back issues through Fall 2013 are available on the app. Website: www.momentummagazineonline.com

    Multiple Sclerosis Monitor and Commentary

Available for iPhone/iPad, requires iOS 5.0 or later

MS Monitor and Commentary is a quarterly newsletter that provides summaries of recently published MS-related articles and research which are then followed by commentaries from noted experts. These commentaries are designed to give readers a concise discussion of what the studies mean and their practical/clinical implications.

However, it appears that the MS Monitor has not published any newsletters in 2014 and only the 4 issues from 2013 are available through the app. Past issues through Spring 2009 are available on the website: www.monitorandcommentary.com/ms.htm
