Those of us who live with multiple sclerosis, day in and day out, know that our abilities may dramatically change at any time.  That’s the reality of living with a faulty electrical system.  If there’s a “short in the cord,” the electrical message isn’t going t...

Excellent post!

I'd love to be able to just call an electrician and get re-wired.

With MS, it's definitely advisable to expect the unexpected. Then expect more.

Do you ever feel like an old house with aluminum wiring and frayed insulation?  I do on occasion.  Tongue out

Preparing for the unexpected is a hard thing to remember.  It's so much easier when things are completely within our control.  MS takes some of that control away.

I am new to this but Lisa, I wanted to see if I could get more info.  I have MS, since

1974 but in 2007 dx with Lupus presenting with RA.  I believe I saw that you have the same DX?  I have many questions - but I'm not very computer savy.  Any help will be appreciated?

Thank you,

Nancy

Hi Nancy,

Yes, we were both in Joan's chatroom last night.  I'm sorry to hear of your additional dx.  From talking to several MSers online, it seems much too common for us to have MS and RA.  I've even heard of MS and Lupus.  But you are the first person I've encountered who has all three.

I'd be glad to help you navigate around here and to look up information for you.  Since you will not likely get an email that I've replied to your comment, I'll ask Joan how to get in touch with you.  (Or maybe you will get a notice, I'm not sure since you don't have a profile yet.)

Us multi-auto girls gotta stick together.  hehe.

You know I am not a newbie.  I have had this mess since 2004.  So I do not qualifly as a newbie anymore.  You know I could live with this mess if there were more avenues out there for us and not just us MS'rs, but anyone with any type of illness.  If help was available without having to jump through hoops.  Lord knows we cannot jump through nobodies hoops.  We are not going to lie about having this illness, because we really don't want it, and the disability money is not always that great!  If they would just get us some help, we really would be out of their hair!  When people find out that we have MS the first thing they think, "Oh my God can I catch it," they do not say it, but that is what they are thinking.  Have not fear, it is all ours!  We will be all right.  Newbie, you may have some bumps and bruises, it's all right, some sight problems, get some glasses, a few pairs.  Manage your pain stay on top of it, do not worry, it will be all right.  Your life has taken a turn, but that is life.  No turns it would be boring.  We are all in this together.

The terminator self healing is a beautiful idea.  " I'll be back. "

Sounds good to me. I also liked when you talked about being self-employed and getting caught without insurence.  The subject hits home for me.  I also relize that the quate is from the older model Terminator wich does not regenerate but I thought it sounded good LOL.Tongue out

Hi Tracelyn,

Welcome.  It can be truly overwhelming and scary when first diagnosed.  Really at any time, actually.  I hope that you do find a few things here to read which will make it less scary.  There are some genuinely supportive folks who float around this website regularly.  If there's anything you need help with, please don't hesitate to ask.  We're here for you.
