Welcome to the final week of October!!  The one in which young ghouls and goblins plan their festive activities, while the rest of us try not to eat all of the candy before the parade of Tricks and Treats come along.  (or maybe that's just me, )     In honor of Halloween, I...

I too struggle with the inability to resist those small chocolates billed as "fun size". For me the fun starts when I'm on the 10th frozen snickers. Smile

Although I may be able to find a few character references to my symptoms, I feel representing the disease on a whole would be more appropriate for me. Therefore, I will dress as a lab assistant, holding a jar with a brain marked "Abby Normal". (For those of you who are Young Frankenstein fans!)

Thanks for the great timely posting Lisa!

Happy Halloween Lisa. :) I hear ya on the whole Frankenstein thing. That's a costume I've been wearing for a while now. I'd love to know when it's gonna come off... and by when I mean date and time. I'm kinda anal like that. I've also got the fall back costume: Sleeping Beauty. (Yeah right, it's more like Rumplestiltskin... but thanks for playing along ;) ) Take care, --Pam

A specific date and time, huh?  That's a tough request.

Sleeping Beauty....that's a good one.  Rumpelstiltskin is a bit too mischievious for me, but then again MS is pretty mischievious.  :)

MS has made nearly every day like Halloween.  We are giving it the night off.

Cool idea, Steve.  Perhaps we should all give MS the night off more often.  Hope you guys are doing well after recent travels.

Although I would like to dress up as an angel and go to all those with chronic conditions and dispense love and hope, I am afraid that reality would have me dress up as Jekyll and Hyde.  And it would depend on how I felt at the time (gee, does that sound terribly familiar to all of you?)!

Jan, I don't think you need to wait until Halloween to be the angel and dispense love and hope.  You are that angel already.

Now, Jekyll and Hyde....I can relate, especially when hormones begin to fluctuate.

Every one of us should dress like a super hero because we are! Superman or Wonder Woman or Captain Marvel, each of us demonstrates bravery, courage and strength every single day in the way we deal with our symptoms and challenges. Many of you are my heroes and I will bet that I am a hero to someone out there too.

As for the candy, if it is small enough, it has no calories. Eat and enjoy!

Michael, you are definitely one of my heroes.  Ever since I learned that the photo NMSS uses in their relationship publication was of you and your wife, which happened sometime after I discovered your blog, I can visualize the strength, bravery, and love which shines through your life.  Thank you for sharing your perspective on a regular basis.

As far as the candy goes, if I keep the bites really small, I don't need to count them, right?

Hmmm.  Chocolate. When the kiddies come to the door, I give one to a child, one to me, one to a child, one to ms.  That’s fair, isn’t it?

My costume? I would be the woman carried in a silk draped sedan chair or litter by kind, strong, loving men and women volunteers. We would pass out flowers and smiles to all of the people in the land.

As your were describing your silk draped sedan chair, I almost pictured you as "Judy Tenuta" until you mentioned the smiles and flowers.  Spreading kindness and joy is something you do everyday.  Don't need to wait until Halloween.  ;)

BTW, I like your method of distributing candy chocolate.

I would be a Orange Street Cone. I had to have bone fusion surgery and a nerve cut. I now have a hard cast ( orange in color) on, and will for the next five weeks. MS is bad, but this is hard. When the cast is off, I will be able to walk without pain.

    Hi Candy Lee,

Walking without pain sounds terrific.  But bone fusion surgery and cut nerves sounds very scary.  At least you've got a good sense of humor about it and hopefully will experience much LESS pain from here on out.

Now did you request that the cast be orange in honor of Halloween? Or did the medical professionals just have fun with that?  Or maybe, it's orange in honor of the awareness color chosen by the National MS Society.  Inquiring minds want to know.
