I'm a 52 year old male. My symtoms started out with numb toes on my right feet, and then it climbed further up my right foot. It spread to my right foot next same symtoms. Soon after my right leg started getting weak and holding fluid , and then my left in this order. When I'm working and I am down on the floor working I need something to pull myself up on, or have someone help me get up. My regular M.D has put me on lyrica and it's helped with my feet a little but i'm gaining wait. 25lbs so far and I'm worried because I have high blood pressure high cholesterol, triclycerides 279/411 I'm on medicine for all. I'm going to see a neuroligist Dec 11th 2009. Anything to share with me.

Hi Kevin
Sorry to hear that you are in so much pain. You sound like I started out. Have you been DX with MS yet? I know that with Lyrica a lot of people say that it helps but they do gain weight. I have Lyrica, but I do not use it. But that is me, i have a very high tolerence for pain. I walked around about three months with a broken shoulder, so you see that is me. Not everyone can do that, nor do I recommend that. When you see your nuero maybe things will be different.

Thanks for caring . I've had ten surgeries and evertime they do surgery they find severe arthritis in all these areas. I had L4/L5 fusion using my own bone for the graph 3 months ago. I've had L5 fixed. Two left shoulder surgeries, left elbow, carpel tunnel twice on each hand, left knee torn ACL and Meniscus they graphed tissue from my hamstring. I worked for UPS for 21 years but the Doctors say it's not the major issue. I was born with degenertive disc disease. I have osteoarthritis. The weakness in my legs and right arm is getting worse. I can't sleep in a bed because I can't move to get out of it. After a full day my feet and ankles look like they are broken they hold so much fluid. The Lyrica helps my mood and does something for me that helps me not get so down. I've been to a Reumatoligist if I spelled that correctly, and they said I needed a neuroligist. Dec 11th can't wait.
Thanks Sherry, I'm at least one of the lucky ones in one way. I have 5 girls only one at home who is 16. That means only one more in college. I was granted social security disability the first time I applied. It was a little tough waiting the 6 months to recieve my first payment but I'm very greatful. We will have to sell our home because we can't afford it . I don't care it's just a house. The other thing being is that we live in a two story home and there are too many steps so will be looking for a ranch style home. My legs can't take the steps and I'm out of breath, so now I'm on a inhaler spriva once a day to add to my nine other meds. I also have high blood pressure. To look at me I look in pretty good shape. I'm 6' foot tall and 225lbs but this all just hit me as far as the weakness numb toes, feet, legs and weak right arm in the last year. It all hit so fast I hope we get the neuropathies figured out eeg on the 11th of Dec.
