Do you see "them" too?

By Daryl Friday, March 20, 2009

I'm writing this to respond to a couple of answers to a question I had posed.  Unfortunately I couldn't respond to the answer.  Thank you for those of you who did answer and gave me some feed back, that's in "print" so I KNOW I'm not nuts!

One of the problems (among the many) I've been experiencing which seem to be getting worse is: seeing things in my peripheral vision i.e, spots, lights, shapes, indiscribably figures, and they seem to move.  I think it's the "movement" that "catches my eye".  I turn to look and clearly there's nothing there.  I have to say, this freaks me out a little.  I work at a university as a Controls techician.  I spend a great deal of my day in dim lit, noisey mechanical rooms alone.  So naturall when I "see" something move through the shadows, or out of the corner of my eye it's a little disturbing.  Or at least it used to be.  Now it's just irritating.  Sometimes the images are pretty "big", like a figure almost.  That's the one that freaks me out the most.  I suppose I've gotten used to it.  Like I've gotten used to the pain, constant fatigue, muscle spasms, tremors and loss of coordination.  But it still annoys me.

I'm basically curious to see how many other people have experienced this phenomina.  Not that I want to see anyone have to deal with this sort of thing, but it is nice to know "you're not the only one".  It helps you realize you haven't totally stepped off the reservation yet.

One answer I recieved had links to images "seen" by other people.  I checked them out, and they look pretty firmiliar.   Other things I've noticed when I close my eyes from time to time, I actually see shapes.  Almost perfect geometric shapes.  You would think a circle or and oval would make "more sense", which I do see, but I also see squares.  Yeah, squares.  It's weird.  I've moved my line of sight to change the last thing I was looking at, thinking some "square image" was the last thing I saw.  At that time, it didn't matter what I was looking at.  I still saw the square.  Yes, life has become pretty darn interesting lately.

So if anyone to relate to this sort of thing, I'd love to hear about it.  I sure so would others.

Hey there!

I am so glad you agreed to post about this and I am curious too if others will comment about their visual experiences.  I am wondering if you were beginning to see one of those zigzaggy auras that I sometimes see because it starts with lines that seem to move.

Thanks again for sharing your experience here.

This is primarily the reason I sought treatment.  If I look at a lighted object, or trees with sunlight behind them, I see the trees, but as a light.  It's hard to explain.  We have tile floors and I see the grids where the grout is, and when I look away for a second I see the grids as white lines.  I see lingering images where the image is still in my vision when I have stopped looking at it.  It's creepy!  I see some lettering linger on signs, computer, etc.  I sometimes can't go online because the light coming from behind makes my vision worse.  They thought it was migraines.  I even had my vision lose all color last December and it went inverted.  That was pretty scary!  It came right back tho.  I was just diagnosed 10 days ago and haven't started the lovely injectibles yet.

I can't say I've had the color loss and vision "inversion", but the lingering images, shapes or what have you, yeah, lots of that. Figures out of the corners, move.......I've kinda gotten used to that. I don't really notice anymore. I have noticed my "blind spot". I've had it tested, (for optic nuritis or however you spell it) according to my nuero-opthemologist, if you "notice your blind spot" it indicates possible "swelling" of the optic nerve. I don't know what that might mean for me. I have looked at things, or read something, and I know what I'm looking at, but I'm aware of "blank spots". Letters in a word will disapear, or there are "holes" in the image where my blind spot are. Strange, but more and more usual. Let me know how things work out. I still haven't had a diagnosis, and have to go back for ANOTHER MRI, but who knows. Good luck to you.
