With the fatigue that is common to MS patients, it is easy to forego the joy of exercise. That is when you most need it. If you choose not to do it, it will be more difficult tomorrow. Moreover, I found that when I was just too fatigued today and made myself go walk anyway, I was doubly blessed.
Not only did I get the exercise tha I needed today, after I walked I had more energy. That energy would keep me going for hours rather than having to take a nap. It is the same for a well person. Getting in better shape makes it easier to exercise. Think about it. A person doesn't just go out and run a marathon. He trains and gets stronger and in better condition each day he trains. Do not let the fatigue stop you. Today...or permanently!

Bruce,
I agree with you completely. When I went to physical therapy to work on improving my balance, we also focused on reconditioning. Basically getting my body in a stronger state of being because I had gotten "soft." The more I used the weight machines and recumbent bike, the more I walked, the better I felt physically and mentally.
Reading this again gives me a bit of a push to go outside and enjoy this beautiful weather we are having. It's an spring around here. Time to get moving!
Lots of tornadoes this way in the last two days. Fortunately, I only saw rainfall. My walking is done everyday in a large grocery store so I can walk no matter what the weather is like. Max time I have walked in there is seventeen and a half miles without stopping, over five hours. Thanks for your feedback. I suffered severe symptoms for years, never took meds, and have walked over eight thousand miles. Today, no one would guess that I ever had MS. I still walk three miles each day.
