Power Chairs

Thank you for a well researched and thoughtful post. I hated giving up my scooter for a power chair, but I could no longer climb into the scooter. I first had to get a scooter because my job moved uphill (STEEP HILLS in Seattle) and the floor I worked on with 80 co-workers (all of whom I had to interact with daily) was a LONG block in length and width. Even now my power chair can't make it up Seattle hills. There was also a horrible attack on a bus driver here, the driver was killed by a passenger and the bus went flying off a bridge; so, future buses had large shields around the driver and I coulld no long fit my scooter on buses! I exercise my arms every day in hopes of one day being able to return to a manual wheelchair. (I've never had anyone to push me around, the power chair became my ONLY option.) Great post! I wish I had known more when I bought my chair in 2004.
