Were you shopping on Black Friday?
Here we are in the middle of the Christmas shopping season. The malls are so beautiful, decorated with winter fairylands, carols playing in the background, families shopping, laughing, arguing, both kids and adults, rushing from store to store. Commercial Christmas is in bloom. What a fun way to share the feeling of Christmas, going from store to store, mall to mall.
My MS, along with my awkward gate and especially with my wheelchair, changed my shopping habits. There are fewer stores in my plans and more Internet.
Since the day after Thanksgiving, the busiest shopping day of the year, became such a fervor, I certainly didn't want to get mixed in with the shopping mobs of Black Friday. In the last few years, however, the Internet joined the ranks of outrageous deals with its own version of Black Friday -- Cyber Monday.
Last year, the "normal" fervor resulted in tragedy when an employee was trampled by a shopping mob at Wall-Mart, and a new strategy was developed. This year Black Friday spread itself out, offering deals all Thanksgiving week. Even Cyber Monday stretched deals over a week.
So the Question of the Week is: Were you shopping on Black Friday?
Or what about Cyber Monday, and even the extra days used to soften the fervor that were labeled Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales during the week? Has your MS prompted you to change your Christmas shopping routine?
