Having being diagnosed with MS two and a half years ago now I believe one thing or a bit of advice I could give to anyone would be to remain mentally strong and remain active. When first told of the condition human nature wants to either give up or know more. Please if anything choose the latter but dont read up to much info and scare yourself silly. Which is again only detrimental.
Carry on as you always did if you can and look at MS as 'Many Situations'. I said this to my consultant on one of my first visits to him and he said he had never heard of this spoken in that way which had suprised me.
I was told it looked like I had had it for some more years but due to me being fairly active and outdoors alot he said that it could have been a major help ( I work in Outdoor Pursuits in the U.K.) so there you go.
I know it affects people in many many ways but do stay active physically if you are able too and if your not so much, then more importantly stay mentally strong

Hi Andrew,
Wonderful words of advice for anyone who is newly diagnosed, or even for anyone who has been living with MS for years. Staying positive and keeping physically active are so very important!!
A common tendency when faced with a life-changing diagnosis such as MS is to think that "life is over" as we knew it. Sure, life changes. But we need to remember that WE are the same and to continue to do the things which bring us joy is almost important.
Sorry to go on so much, but your post just made me smile today. :) Thank you.
Hello Lisa,
Thank you for those words I am happy to have made you smile too
