Ok. About an hour ago I was home alone after my pool exercises. Admittedly I did push a little hard in the pool and was feeling particularly tired when I arrived home. I got out of the bath, parked my scooter and tried to walk (with walker) back to my bedroom (about 40 ft). We...

Helen you are not alone, I do it all the time, I just wiggle until I get to where I need to be rest and then move again. It is just what I have to do. No shame in my game. Because I am at home alone during the day, so I have learned to fend for myself. I am independent that way. I just have to keep my floors clean

Thanks Sherry. I was really feeling kinda sorry for myself. I hate thinking that I need a "cast of thousands" to do the most basic things. I've recovered now and working on not falling. If it happens again (and it may) I will think of what you said. Thanks again

tellnhelen--u r not alone--i've learned to fall gracefully i've had so much practice at it--al you can do is try to get somewhere u can pull yourself up or just rest where u are until your body says ok---i don't take showers when nobody is at home though--haven't needed them yet but i don't want to lay there naked 'til someone decides to come home djax59

Hi djax..Thanks for your comment. In fact I seldom shower anymore. I'm afraid of falling. I have a shower bench; run water in the tub and bath while sitting. Its not as enjoyable but the idea of being "found" laying there naked is just too unpleasant.

Hi TellHelen, Have you thought about getting a hand held shower? That way you can sit while you shower and other folks who use the same shower can also use it as a stationary shower head when they want to. Hang in there!

How are you doing now?

Oh my! That must have been so frightening for you! It is terrible that you even have to worry about this. But maybe some sort of medical alert device might give you some peace of mind. I did a quick search and here is a list of devices.
Please don't feel sad about yourself...we all need help sometimes. I hope that this does not happen to you again.

I am ok..once I rested I was back on my feet and feeling OK enough to blog about it. Thank you for the good wishes. I gave a key to my apartment to my neighbor who has agreed to rescue me if needed. We do find a way to adjust don't we.
