Have You Ever Used Acthar Gel?

By Cathy, Health Guide Monday, October 03, 2011

Hello HC Readers,

I came across this article after reading my MS World Express newsletter.  I thought I would share it with you.  I did not know much about ACTH (Acthar Gel) even though it's been around awhile. Have any of you ever used it?  Just curious to learn more about it.

The gel, it seems, is for those who do not respond well to Solu-medrol when treating a relapse, or for those whose veins cannot handle IV treatments.

Have you ever tried it?

From the newsletter:

Acthar Gel, aka adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), is a new one to me. When I first saw this article, Acthar Gel Prescriptions on the Rise, I assumed that it was something that was being used off-label for MS relapses. A little research revealed that it was FDA-approved specifically for treating MS relapses in 1978.
