Yes, Connie. I have been on Copaxone for the past 15 years. It's what works for me, and I am so thankful not only to be on a DMD, but to have choices available to us. A lot has happened since I was diagnosed, and there are more medications in the pipeline. The old saying from DuPont "better living through chemistry" certainly applies now.
Thanks for the compliment on my article!
Best to you,
Cathy
Carpe Diem indeed. I, like you, try not to dwell on what might be. I recently saw the ruination of my mother who also has MS, but they tell me "this is not your mother's MS", so I try to believe that. The thing I do most now, is say to myself, there may not be a next year for that trip, that purchase, whatever. I may spend more money, but I'm getting more out of life, cramming it in so to speak. We don't know what the future will hold and remember, you could as easily be run over by a bus tomorrow.
Sheila,
You are right - we all know people who are living life with "the glass half empty" and don't have MS (referring to your "hit by the bus" statement). I could easily let this swallow me up inside, and not do the things in my life I want to. So, I have this chronic disease. I figure everyone inevitably has something wrong inside their body - that is a reality of life. It's all what you do with know what you have, picking yourself up, brushing yourself off, and literally starting all over again (sorry for the music reference - I do that all the time!) You sound like a amazing survivor with a positive personality who is sincerely living my carpe diem quotation. You go, girl!
