There is a lot of talk about research and medical advances in the treatment of multiple sclerosis, but I would like to return to the fundamentals of MS care and how these new treatment options fall into the framework of MS care.   There are three important arms of MS treatment:   1. D...

    You indicate that Tysabri is for "relapsing forms" of MS, however you should note that Tysabri can also be used for SPMS with relapses.

    Unfortunately, most neurologists that treat MS patients fail to mention (and the patient fails to ask) that SPMS (Second Progressive) has two separate categories:

    1: SPMS with relapses, which is still in the inflammatory stage of MS;

    2: SPMS without relapses, which has progressed to the demyelinating stage of MS.

    Respectfully submitted,

    Lauren Roberts Smile

    (MS patient for 32+years, currently SPMS with relapses, and current Tysabri user that has had 22 infusions thus far)

    Thank you for recognizing that "we" , the patient are the heart of MS research and what this and other sites are meant for ... seems some of the sites I was visiting lost that perspective ..

    I do the"treat the symptom" method .. and while I do , it includes counseling .. I advocate this to everyone .. no matter what the stage, no matter what the age, no matter what the plan or course of treatment you take .. get therapy ...

    This disease is multi-faceted ... it can be all consuming, no matter the ilk of the person .. in the back of your mind , you always question ... so my biggest assistance is therapy .. one on one .. not group , but personal ..

    Most overlooked help that there is , it works ... my belief is that we as the "chronically ill" need it .. all with any chronic disease or illness do .. and yet it the most overlooked of therapies ...

    In pretty much every state there are advocates for people with chronic illenesses .. and in most states they run from free to sliding scale payments ...

    I am a firm believer that mind, body and spirit are all connected .. and if one is ill , the others follow .. whether you may find comfort from drugs, acupuncture and diet .. if your mind is not right, how much will or does it affect the treatment ...

    That's all .. jmo ... agserra

    Oh, and Doc .. I believe you were posed a question about LDN by a fellow MSer .. I hope you responded ....
