Hi Woody, Welcome to this site, yolu will find great information and a whole lot of fun and kind people here.  We all are experiencing the same things MS.  It is the Beast as I call it.  You want to make sure that you vitaman D levels are always kept where they should be, itis very important to the frunctioning of your body.  Sound important, well it is, not sure just how, but my doctors say that it is, and I know for sure when I got mine to where they should have been I felt better so it is true Wink  Someone else can explain it betterTongue out  I have to use canes also, I just make sure mine are cute  cause I am a lady Wink I use my wheelchair in the afternoon because it makes it eaiser on my family.  Life will have some challenges but none that we cannot handle hang in there new meds are coming ou all the time which will make our life eaiser and better, we MS'rs will be just fine, and again WELCOME to this site!

Hi Woody,

Welcome to MS HealthCentral.  Like Sherry said, getting your vitamin D levels high enough will help to make you feel better.  Be sure to have your blood tested, however, so that you and your doctor know how much you need to supplement.  It shouldn't really have any correlation with walking, but I hope that it does improve the quality of your life.

Hello Woody,

Vitamin D, in general, will make you feel better if your levels were low. I take 5000IU daily and feel alot better. Have you heard about Ampyra? It is strictly for us with MS that have walking issues. I've been on it since last April and it has helped me tremendously. Just keep in mind, it's not for everyone...but definitely worth talking to your neurologist about.
