Share your story

By mxspdracer Tuesday, January 19, 2010

Hi all, I live in SF, and I've had MS for about 13 years. Its my 10 year anniversary of having recovered from an attack that left me half paralyzed. So its made me want to first of all be thankful that today I can walk and secondly that it woke me up and inspired me to live my life to the fullest!! So hello new friends!

I made a video (feedback welcome) that can be found at http://bit.ly/6yuM1u because I'm sharing it on a site that shares other inspiring stories http://bit.ly/6veMQT.  If you have one, consider helping someone else with MS (like me) by sharing your story.

Welcome to MS Central!!  (I know I responded to your comment on my post, but I'm repeating some of the same things below for other readers who stumble across your post.)

I watched your video and enjoyed it.  You show such grace dealing with what can be a tough subject for many.  The thought of spending over a year just learning to walk again, much less the smaller tasks of daily living which many take for granted.  And after having gone through that years ago, you exude optimistism, thankfulness, and encouragement.

YOU look like a natural on camera.  For folks who may not know, the video contest you mention called "I Walk Because..." and is sponsored by Acorda Therapeutics who has developed Fampridine-SR (Amaya or Ampriva) which is not yet FDA-approved.  Deadline for the video contest is February 1, 2010.  Good luck!!

Marie's video can be watched here on YouTube.

Hi Lisa!

Wow!  Thank you for responding and clarifying my post.  Thank you also on the complement to my vlog.  I am incredibly flattered!

Not that I feel an obligation to Acorda by any means but I did find out through twitter of all places that some of their products have been recently approved by the FDA...  here's the link if you happen to be interested.   http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/01/22/fda.approval.ms.drug/

Hey,

You're welcome!  Thanks for mentioning the new drug approval.  Watch for an in-depth post sometime tomorrow which will go beyond the press releases for the approval of Ampyra.  Lots of people are excited about this.
