As I'm just recently accepting that I need to roll with the changes in my abilities instead of fighting them every step of the way I'm struck by the relatively small adaptions I've made over time.
I now awake at 5:30am to get ready to begin a 9am workday that's 5 minutes away.
My morning shower is taken in much less time. I've cut the "repeat" out of lather, rinse, repeat and totally eliminated the conditioner segment, which tends to gain me about a minute when ya factor in the necessity to hold onto the shower doors with one hand thru the entire process! And, just between you and me, my lower legs and feet are lucky to get a cursory going over with the washcloth! I dry off as best I can while wobbling like a weeble and proceed to a short break. (In fact, my longer morning routine consists of about 50% activity and 50% break)
I then towel dry the hair that I've, over months, hacked at with an oh so unsteady hand, into a style that I've been told is "modernly messy and chic." ('Tis good to have some proficient patronizers in my life ;) Add a lil hair putty and hair's done. Maybe a short rest then onto make-up.
Little bit of foundation, some powder and a swipe of blush and I'm good to go. But only because after 25 years of applying subtle eyeshadow and meticulous mascara I've conceded to the traitorous hand that's intent on giving me odd eyeshadowy highlights all over the upper portion of my face and skewering my eyeball with the mascara wand!
Break time. Coffee and toast. Not a lot of change there. But one cup of coffee in a mug that can hold two cups, but only to slop all over as aforementioned traitorous hand jerks its way to my mouth!
Now to get dressed. I've eliminated most things with many buttons from my wardrobe, for obvious reasons, thanks hand. :P
And now I'm pretty much ready to go. And exhausted! Who knew getting ready to face the day would take up so much of the day??
Have a good day, everyone. If I start now I can slip in a nap before I leave for work!
