ANOTHER CHAPTER

By Paula Burgess Tuesday, June 10, 2008

Hi theresa and sue..thanks for your comments... I love hearing from everyone..well we did it..my daughter met me this morning at the gym as planned. After which she had trained two of her clients privately and taught  a "zumba class"..all before 10am! She's an amazing person..she started me off with warmups, then the treadmil..and then went right into all the nautilus weight bearing machines..then  she "made me" stretch every muscle in this old body until they were loose enough that i had no pain! Phew!!  Boy,did she kick my tushie, after working out for 2 1/2  hours! There was a different staff trainer at the gym today that i've seen many times with never even a "good morning" from her...she's just a grump!  The  rest of the staff is very nice on the other hand..they just need to get new trainers in there, thats all!(no my daughter is too busy) this staff trainer glared at jenn the entire time, and jenn ignored her!! Jenn had warned me earlier that there are some trainers who only have the required knowledge for their certifications(could be that they're lazy) and are often intimidated by other trainers who are obviously more knowledgeable in their field because of continued education. And she knows of many trainers who are her friends that do the same thing.often in different areas of fitness, but we all have our strengths and weaknesses. I did'nt let her staring bother me because knew i had the best!  Although i did have to giggle a little because she was straining to listen while jenn was explaining every muscle that i moved inside and out and in what direction they were going while i was working them.tongue out i learned a great deal from "my baby" today and that was my purpose. The owners of the gym are extremely friendly and very very nice, and also they are willing to allow my daughter to come in with a pass to train me once and a while.  I'm too nice of a person to report someone unless i really have to. But if there were to be a next time, i will put her in her place immediately. I would'nt want to jeopardize someones job but that woman had better stay clear of me now. I've printed up several copies of "some" of the symptoms of ms..and i may just hand them to a few people who stick their noses where they dont belong next time. Also having risidual nerve damage from a broken neck does'nt exactly put me on easy street either.. But honestly, i really don't think a lot of people care what people have been through. I've found that with so many different situations these past few years that i've now finally accepted it as reality..there are those that care and those that havent a clue..nor are they interested. So move on all..it helps to turn a deaf ear for all those trivial little annoying things that we all hear from day to day..like a broken nail!!! Did i ever mention that my daughter has a disability too? She has a small amount of paralysis on her left side that controls the muscles in her leg and arm from a birth injury, but it never stopped her. She was the first in the family (and there are many children from my siblings) to get her drivers license, when others though she'd never get it, she had several years of dance lessons, especially ballet. She attended modeling school for a while (for poise and esteem) some gymnastics, soft ball, scuba diving and the first and only one to graduate college! She's very beautiful and sweet, and i'm very proud to have her as my daughter. She is also a dj on a radio station one day a week (her other passion) you can see her picture on her website if you are so inclined, it needs more updating because she is into more areas of fitness now..and that will be done for her shortly. Her website is jhart2hart@hotmail.com  be well..paula

I checked out her website.  She is a lovely woman.  Again, you are an amazing woman to push yourself to accomplish everything you do at the gym, you are an inspiration,  Bravo.

Thank you so much Theresa.. for both compliments. I'll relay the message to Jennifer. I think she's a pretty cool lady..and has great strengths which  have  helped me push forward. We sometimes compliment each other when we're together..especially when we're in silly moods in public. Our laughter seems to be contagious  to others.... a lot.  It's supposed to be that way. When you smile..most people will return it ..even when they're strangers. No matter what pitfalls we have to get through, we're here because that's what God wants and we have to make the best of whatever he gives us. I'm never going to stop either. Please be well..and good health to you..God Bless. Paula
