Hi Everyone! First, I wanted to thank you all for your amazing support. Your replies to my first post really lifted me up and comforted me! So, after about two weeks in the hospital mom was able to come back home! During that time when my mom was hospitalized for aspiration pneumonia, sepsis and impaction, we met with doctors, nurses, social workers and two palliative care doctors who were very real with us and answered some questions for us. There was also talk about what to do when this happens again. There were questions for my brother and I about feeding tubes, breathing tubes, hospice care and DNR (do not resusitate). At 30 and 27, theses are tough things for us to think about regarding our mom who's had MS since we were very small. Mom, somehow conquered everything she was hospitalized for! She is back home. She was even able to join us at my aunt's for a Passover Seder. All I kept thinking was how strong my mom is. Through it all she still smiles and never complains. Eventhough she is helpless and totally dependent on others to care for her, she still seems to enjoy living. Life is not easy for her, but I think the MS has also made her unaware of exactly how bad things are. She used to be a ballet dancer and now can't even turn herself side to side in bed. MS is terrible, but with the right doctors, nurses, love and care, I know now, things can be okay. I'm walking in the MS walk with the hospital team that takes care of my mom. If anyone wants to sponsor me that would be awesome. I'm already at over $2,000! Thanks again everyone for all of your support. It means a lot to me even though I don't know you I feel like I do! http://main.nationalmssociety.org/goto/judyanna To all of you with MS, my heart goes out to you and your family. STAY STRONG and FIGHT for the BEST LIFE YOU CAN LIVE!!! LIVE!!!
