I came to address this topic in a 'friend of a friend' kind of way. It seems appropriate, during Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month, to write something about how family relationships can be affected, both positively and negatively, by MS.The family in question felt that 'Sis' had been...

As a family member of a loved one with MS, I thank you for addressing this topic.  I'm sure families want to "protect" the person with MS but it may not be in their best interest.  What's important is to stick together as a family and support each other.  I'm sure your article will be helpful to others as well.  Thanks Mandy!

I can really appreicate this article. I have a sister with MS, and I sometimes find myself withholding difficult information or not sharing important feelings with her in an effort to shield her from additional stress and worry. This post got me thinking that perhaps, despite my best intent, my sister wouldn't want me to feel like I can't truly express myself to her like I used to before she was diagonsed. Thanks for the perspective.

    Thanks, JP,

It's a quandary alright. Communication is the first step. MS is monster enough without allowing it to get in the middle of relationships. Thank you for reading and for commenting.

    Hi Mandy and friends,

My book, Life Interrupted It's Not All About Me, is my real-life story, a self-help memoir sharing how my family relationship was affected, both positively and negatively by MS. First, I'd like to share a story with you from last December.
