RR MS I want to do more!
Diane J Standiford
Sunday, March 30, 2008 at 01:52 AMAfter working 40+ hrs/wk with MS for 18 years (along with a bout of ovarian cancer during) the decision to retire was made by my MS; the hardest part has been thinking I should do more and then "Oh, right." From a fast paced job with over 100 co-workers (in MY dept.) to suddenly NO ONE. No pace but that of MS (slow.) But, you move on, reconstruct your days and your life. Blogging has been perfect:my own pace, lots of "people," and I force myself to do it each day, no matter how bad I feel. We each have to face those moments and find how best to reconstruct and reinvent ourselves. What YOU do is a perfect example. Good job!

Wow, you were able to hang in here a long time! "The decision to retire was made by my MS" -- those are very powerful words. MS does have a tendency to make certain decisions for us, doesn't it?
I agree -- blogging gives us the ability to make new friends and acquaintences and opening a new world of support.

Hello Mandy - Thanks so much for your post, we are all glad you are doing well right now. Your attitude is great and inspires me - when my feet ache and I've been running after my three kids! (I should note I do not have MS, but my feet do still hurt
. )
To me, it is important to know what my purpose is here. At one point in my life, it was to be the big bread winner, then a mom, and now I am trying to be a mom and a "little" bread winner. But right now my kids are what matters most.
Maybe for you, writing this blog and sharing it with all of us is what you are meant to do. And let's not forget Jake, who has an opportunity to tell his side of things - the caregiver side.
All I know is that we appreciate you a great deal and suspect you have helped many with your strong sense of self.
Anyway, thanks for doing this for us - and good luck with the household projects.
