So, are you crazy? Imagining things? Faking? Just looking for attention? You know what a multiple sclerosis exacerbation is, but what does it mean when your doctor tells you that you are having a 'pseudo' exacerbation? Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary defines the word 'pseudo&...

Thanks Mandy for this really informative post.  I guess one has to wonder if these kinds of things happen with other diseases and sydromes as well?  Does my aching hip mean just that or something else?  The point is don't wait - go speak to you doctor as soon as you can.

It has been years since I last wrote in my journal here . I have been experiencing horrific pain in my hips that causes a burning , numblike pain down my legs to my feet ..

When thiis first happened , I immediately had a full MRI done from my Head to my Hips .. inflamation showed on old wounds from discs but because I was stubborn and did not have this done until several months after an exacerbation , it probably would have shown differently ..

This has stayed with me now for sveral years and lyrica a few days a week seem to ease this .. my journey has been long since last I wrote .. and I am now back in S. Florida near the original doctors who aided me ..

Once again the neuro seeing the full disc saw the changes in my lesions .. saw the scarring on my thoracic spine found foot drop in my right foot but still would not accept the "pain" ..

My rheumotologist, Dr. Catherine Kowal, here in Naples is the only doctor who listens and treats me .. since meeting me 9 years ago she has studied mor and more patients coming in with MS pains .. she goes to MS seminars and while not a specialist , she grasps the concepts of pain in MS ..

Well, I now will go see the neuro one last time .. have an MRI and have a serious talk , as he still claims to have expertise .. very disappointing that I must now ask him if he has read the newer info on pain ..

Where do I turn ? My sight is a little worse, the pain is excruciating at times , the fatigue .. I no longer do stretching as much as I had , and I am cranky .. lol ..

I am afarid of the interferons, afraid of never finding an MS doctor who will accept my symptoms and help ease my worries .. on one sight someone has told me that the pain can be the end of an exacerbation .. we all know that exacerbations sometimes do not show up on MRI's .. and now pseudo-exacerbations ?

Why can I not find a doctor who can tell me these things .. I try to live a normal life , not dwell any longer on MS , but I now have joined an MS chapter and an overseas site trying to get more info on the newest word ofMS .. as 9 years ago and consistently been told I have "such a mild form" .. lol .. it's once again, pretty scary but I am seeking out help to try to better understand all the latest in the MS world .. agserra

Welcome back Adrian,

I happened to see your comment in the recent activity on the site. So that others might be able to connect with you more easily, consider creating a Sharepost. http://www.healthcentral.com/multiple-sclerosis/c/create

Things look a little different around here since you've probably visited last.  The buttons for creating a Sharepost are not as obvious anymore and I just wanted to make sure that you knew it was still an option.

I'm sorry that you are still having difficulties with doctors.  That can be frustrating, especially when you live with more than one chronic disease.

I hope that you are doing well otherwise and please let us know if there is anything you need.
