It gets an eye-popping response. An incredulous look. A momentary stare. That’s what happens when you get specific about the numbers. The numbers being the dollars and cents of health care.I’ve been writing about the crushing costs of health care for some time now, but I’ve been pre...

Yes, I've seen it.  That glazed over look.  "What are you talking about?"

I've heard it.  "My doctor's visit co-pays are going up from $10 to $15 this year, can you believe it?"

I've felt it.  "You'd be okay if you got a job with better benefits."

The lack of understanding.  The 'haven't got a clue' denial.

I'm in a situation where I could have access to an insurance policy which would cover my medical and pharmaceutical needs.  The cost for adding me to this policy is far less than I pay for premiums now for a policy which does NOT cover my needs.

The only problem is that the other person involved has not seen this as an urgent need.  There is understanding without UNDERSTANDING.  Perhaps that is what has brought my mind back to the issue of insurance which has never really gone away for me.

I'll talk about it more and more because, I believe, that folks who are safe and do not know any different DO NOT want the type of insurance you or I have.

    Timely piece Mandy.  Thank you.

I'm pretty sure that no one wants the type of insurance we have for the premiums we pay. Someone recently asked me, "Why did you choose such a stupid policy?"

I believe we all deserve a certain level of health care, but I don't think everyone agrees. There are a lot of people who are healthy, believe they will stay healthy, and can't imagine being in our shoes.

Did you say you had $20,000 dollars in deductibles?  OMG!  That is insane.  Health care is my number one issue in this presidential election...that and the economy.  I sure am ready for a change...how about you?

Thank you for telling people about this...I sure didn't know it was that bad.

Sorry for being late with my comments...I am trying to catch up now.

Unfortunately, you did read that right.

I can't stress enough how important this issue is in the upcoming election. We've got to spread the word and encourage voter turnout.
