Dear President-Elect Obama:As you prepare to take office during these turbulent times, much is expected of you. Perhaps too much. I’m not one to expect miracles, but my dearest hope is that we will soon see the first inklings of change. You can tell a lot about a people by how they treat their ...

Thank you. Actually, did you know that we can all send letters like this one?

Visit http://www.change.gov and click on "share your story."

I think our government can learn more from individual stories like ours than from all the talking heads!

Mandy,

I may already know your story up to this point, as it relates to health insurance, but this letter packs a powerful punch and feels just as shocking as the first time hearing your story.  ....and this, after knowing my own story which is equally as frustrating.

Thank you for continuing to bring our focus to the health care crisis.

Thank you, Lisa. It's my story (and yours, and countless others) AFTER this point that worries me.

It's crucial that we get our individual stories out there so the powers that be can put faces to the larger issue called the "health care crisis."

Thank you for your efforts as well.

I certainly do hope that Obama and his staff (Daschle and the rest of them, in particular) read your letter.  It is a powerful statement and extremely well-written.

As an independent, I do not feel beholden to either major political party.  And, as a Catholic, I could not vote for either McCain (war, embryonic stem-cell research) or Obama (abortion, embryonic stem-cell research, euthanasia).  I cannot in good conscience vote for a presidential candidate who is not truly pro-life, so I voted 3rd party (again).  However, although I did not vote for Obama I will acknowledge him as our President and pray that he makes good decisions regarding life issues and health care.

We are in crucial times.  Come what may, I pray that we all grow closer to the Source of all life and light.

Thank you, Franklin, for your honesty.

I realize that this past election wasn't an easy one for you, but your support of our president-elect and health care reform goes a long way. You are one more voice in the chorus, one more person on the face of health care.

Kindest Regards,

Mandy
