I want to thank you for presenting these questions and answers. They're really informative and helpful in understanding the questions people with MS have. My sister has MS and these specific questions and answers will help me to better help her deal with the disease.

I am especially grateful the doctor spoke to the issue of the incredible fatigue many MS patients experience. Unless you've seen someone experience that particular symptom, or had it yourself, one simply cannot understand what it's like. I was glad to be able to tell my sister that she is not alone in that symptom.

Also, I know from the nearly 10 years my sister has been diagnosed with MS that the emotional and cognitive effects are serious. She has come to a place of acceptance and has developed great coping skills. For instance, she knows she won't remember things so she has a whiteboard by her phone that she puts important things on -- and her children leave her messages there for things she needs to do for and with them. She has found Effexor to be a life saver for the depression that comes with MS.

Thank you again for the great information.

    Kathy

Oh hey there!  So glad to see you here.

And thank you!  You give us so much information as well.  I would like to hear more about Effexor.  I am also writing over at the depression site here and I am always interested in what medications work for depression.

Please don't be a stranger and let us know how things are going for you and your sister!

What a wealth of information this is, including the original interview, written in an easy to follow and comprehend, style. I've looked forward to this article since the interview and am grateful to see his return; to learn more about this illness, and others. You have brought great information to this site, Merely Me.

I thank you both, especially the doctor for giving his time and knowledge.

Great avenue for your readers both with and without MS to get answers from an expert directly. I learned several things from this and some questions are what I was wondering myself.

    Another Great job!

I am so glad you found this helpful!  Yes it is nice to have a true expert's opinion on such things.  I wish my own doctor was so helpful.

  7. Insatiable desire to squeeze ring finger tips and 4th toes

I'm 36, remember having having the need/desire to squeeze my ring fingers' tips near the nail and my fourth toes' tip near the nail since I was at least 12.  I feel like having clothes pins on the tips of these digits is about the only thing that would bring relief to me.  Any advise?
