I have been away from the site dealing with the needed renovations of my bathroom & bedroom. I am so very thankful for my friend who is a contractor. He is also the city's contractor; this means the work at my house is fit in around city's needs but, he provides his and his staff's time at a ridiculously low cost. I would never tell him that the upheaval is quite overwhelming. He is sensitive to the physical challenges and has always just put up railings, grab bars, etc. without having to be asked. I love this friend and feel so blessed we met. It will be wonderful when finished; roll-in shower; closet reconfigured to house washer/dryer and my substantially smaller wardrobe since I don't work anymore.
The other person who is an amazing blessing in my life is my 95yr. old mother-in-law who has always shared her gift of prayer and her time to those in need and, her love of family, even those of us who were fortunate enough to have married into her family. She made this reno a reality with the money we needed.
Since this is our (Canadian) Thanksgiving, this post is to acknowledge those people God has blessed me with; my husnand & rock; my kids; my parents, my friends and my Faith Family, and, of course, the fine doctors who keep me going. Thanks to all of you, who are a gift from God and have made my life so awesome in ways you may not even realize. I am also thankful for this website and those who share their gifts, struggles and great ideas for dealing with them. Thank's to all of you.

SherryO, I also did away with my bathtub and I have a shower stall now, and I love it. I still have some ability to walk, mainly in the mornings. I love my shower it is the best, I must say sometimes I do miss my bathtub, but truth be known, I would probably have eventualy drowned in the tub because I would love to go to sleep in the warm water. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, even though we are dealing with this monster we are still blessed. sherry/smomdukes
Good to hear from you MomDukes,
I had my first shower without the confinement of the tub. I never thought I would have gained so much space; it's like having an extra room in the bathroom. One of the changes we made was to remove the tiny window that was on one wall of the old set up and replace it with a beautiful 36" X 36" double hung window! Sunshine & fresh air! I don't miss the tub; the only reason I had to use it was to stand in it for the shower. I was always an in and out person.
Hope all is well with your family and as well as one can hope for, with you.
My husband closed the pool today and put most of the garden to bed for the winter. Still had shrubs & perrennials I didn't get planted so we just stuck them in the ground & will deal with them next year. Who knows maybe they'll look fine! They were calling for frost last night so, we brought in the rest of our tomatoes, cukes & peppers; I don't think we got frost but, won't be long now I fear. I'm not a winter person; okay when I was a kid but, the ground seems so much harder than it used to when I fall!
Think I'll cuddle with the dog, who's already made himself comfortable, and catch some TV.
Talk to you soon.
God's blessings to you and your family,
SherryO
